Feeling Fatigued? Try These Alternative Therapies

About Me
Healing Back Pain

I always wanted a job where I could work with my hands, but after I started working in construction, I found myself with another problem on my hands. I was lifting heavy items all day long, and it really took a toll on my back. I found myself wincing in pain, and it was really discouraging. I realized that if I wanted to keep working, I would need to find a way to help my back. I turned to a great chiropractor in my area, and he really helped me to tackle my issues. After only a few treatments, I had less back pain and a wider range of motion. Read here about more ways a chiropractor can help you.

Do you wake up feeling fatigued even after a decent night's sleep? Maybe you always feel like your energy levels are low, and you have trouble motivating yourself to do much of anything. One of the first steps you should take is to see a doctor and rule out serious issues like cancer. Once you know that there's no serious medical explanation for your tiredness, you can try one or more of these alternative therapies to boost your energy levels.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is common, but it is still considered an alternative therapy when used to deal with issues like fatigue and low energy levels. Many chiropractors believe that when your spine is out of alignment, it takes extra energy for you to move and perform the tasks of daily life. For instance, when your spine is out of alignment, your head wants to rest "off-center" and your body has to expend energy to keep it balanced. When your spine is realigned, your body has to expend less energy on these basic maintenance tasks, which leaves you feeling less exhausted in general. Talk with a local chiropractor, such as those at Gerleman Chiropractic Office, for more information.

Drinking Green Smoothies

Proponents of green smoothies swear that they have the unique ability to improve their energy levels and leave them feeling more vibrant. It is believed that these effects come from the high levels of vitamins and minerals these smoothies contain. Some even say that fresh fruits and veggies contain a "life force" that is transferred to your body when you consume them. Drinking a green smoothie each morning may help you fight fatigue. A good basic smoothie recipe to try is as follows:

Blend the following ingredients in a blender until very smooth:

  • ½ an avocado
  • 1 large handful kale leaves
  • 1 handful baby spinach leaves
  • 4 fresh mint leaves
  • ½ an apple, seeds and stem removed
  • 1 cup coconut water

Reiki

Reiki is a spiritual healing art that involves the practitioner laying his or her hands on the person being treated. Many people who undergo Reiki report instantly feeling more energized and alive. It is thought that the relaxing experience of undergoing Reiki turns down the stress response, which in turn eases fatigue. Reiki also turns on the body's relaxation response, which helps the adrenal glands (which are often exhausted in people who feel fatigued) recover. When the adrenal glands are in a healthier state, they are better able to supply you with a boost of energy when it's needed. Look for a Reiki practitioner in your area, and give it a try. It's completely safe, so you have nothing to lose.
